On 27 October, an event entitled »In literature and illustration« was held in the National Minorities' Club. Our guests were Samo Dražumerič, poet and writer, and Peter Škerl, illustrator, both from Dolenjska.
The evening was organised by the Association of the Slovenians of the Republic of Srpska „Triglav“ Banja Luka and Association for Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto, who have been partners over many years in different cultural and educational exchanges, held between the cities of Banja Luka and Novo mesto.
Talking to both authors, we learned about poetry and prose works of Samo Dražumerič and collection of illustrations by Peter Škerl who received numerous awards for his work. We also spoke about the importance of Slovenian, its role today and its preservation. On the premises of the Club there were exhibited black and white illustrations of Peter Škerl on Georg Orwell's Animal Farm.
The guests were welcomed by Marija Petković, a member of the Association Triglav. At the end of the event, the attendees were greeted by Marjan Ristič, head of the Consular Office in Banjaluka who also opened the exhibition. The event was supported by the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, City of Banja Luka and Municipality of Novo mesto.
