31 October, the Reformation Day, was marked by two art workshops: on 28 October we had illustrator Peter Škerl with us, and on 4 November an art teacher Natalija Veselič Martinjak.
Teacher Natalija Veselič Martinjak has visited us several times so far, and pupils and students who attended the summer school ‘Slovenian in a different way’ organised by the Slovenian Migrant Association created with her on the rivers of Kupa and Rogla. On Saturday, 4 November, in the National Minorities' Club in Banjaluka she presented an interesting technique of painting on rice paper and we also painted aquarelles. When our paintings dried, we glued them on cardboard, thus making nice greeting cards. The year of 2017 is nearly finished and making greeting cards was part of pre-holiday events. The pupils and students enjoyed painting and some already wrote in Slovenian on the greeting cards.
"Painting is one of the ways to 'write' diaries," is a thought by Pablo Picasso. The supply teaching lessons of Slovenian also give opportunity to pupils and students to express in words and drawings. Vincent van Gogh said: »If your inner voice say 'I can't paint', then you keep on painting and the voice will be silenced.« Natalija Veselič Martinjak prepared the workshops also in Slatina and Prijedor, while pupils from Teslić also participated at the workshop in Banjaluka.
