On 15 June, on the premises of Culinary House in Novo mesto, the Institute for Slovenian Emigration and Migrations ZRC SAZU, in cooperation with DRPD Novo mesto and Office of the Government of Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, organised a one-day conference Youth in Transnational Connections: intergeneration relations in emigrant community in the territory of former Yugoslavia.

Welcome speeches were held by: Marina Lukšič Hacin, PhD, ZRC SAZU; Branka Bukovec, Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto; Gregor Macedoni, Municipality of Novo mesto; Jelena Malnar, Office of the Government of Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad; Andrej Šter, Slovenian Foreign Ministry; Tanja Fajon, member of European Parliament; Marijanca Ajša Vižintin, PhD, Institute for Slovenian Emigration and Migrations ZRC.

Work was organised in groups: education and scholarships, inclusion to the labour market and European Voluntary Service, procedures for obtaining Slovenian citizenship. The groups then reported about their work and conference was concluded.
