One of important activities of the Association Triglav Banjaluka is the networking with local population through different projects. Several years ago, under the mediation of the Association Triglav, an agreement was signed on mutual cooperation between the Grammar School Gimnazija Banjaluka and Grammar School Gimnazija Novo mesto, which is a continuous cooperation.
Upon the inivitation of organiser of the project Collage for Youth from Public Fund for Cultural Activities Novo mesto, with Association Triglav as a partner to the project, students of Grammar School Gimnazija Banja Luka from IB DP programme, participants to February workshop, accompanied by their teacher Tatjana Račić, Milijana Šegrt and coordinator IB DP programme Dijana Jujić, visited Novo mesto on 11 October.
Although we started from Banjaluka early enough, unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays on the border, we were unable to have the scheduled sightseeing of the city because we were already late for the beginning of a play.
The play titled KONS:O:VEL was organised on that day for the students of Grammar schools of Banjaluka and Ptuj. The play directed by Matjaž Berger was performed at the theatre of Anton Podbevšek, speaking of the life and work of known avant-garde poet Srečko Kosovel. Given that the play was in Slovenian, visitors from Banjaluka could follow it via subtitles in English. Having completed this somewhat unusual play (by scenography, directing, and acting), we exchanged mutual impressions on it in the hallway of the theatre, over drinks, fruits and tasty croissants.
Thereafter, we went to the grammar school where we were welcomed by teacher Natalija Petakovič, who was our host and took us for a tour through the educational institution. Grammar School in Novo mesto was founded 272 years ago, and never stopped working regardless of war-related situation, natural disasters or other situations which is surely something special.
Visit to Novo mesto finished by socialising and lunch in the restaurant on the Krka riverbank, where we enjoyed beautiful scenery. Our hosts in Novo mesto, Klavdija Kotar and Branka Škerl, wished us farewell.
