We have cooperated with the library Anton Tomaž Linhart from Radovljica for many years. We visited them in Radovljica, and our pupils and students took part at their event A Night with Andersen, and we have also been included in the programme encouraging reading Library – University of Treasure.
On 23 and 24 November an introductory meeting was held in Banjaluka for this year’s action Library – Universe of Treasure. Director of the library Božena Kolman Finžgar and librarian Katja Bevk spoke about the importance of reading to pupils and students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian in both groups on Friday and in three groups on Saturday. The youngest could see a magical chest. There are books, magazines and dolls hidden in the chest and we could play Little Red Riding Hood. It was Katja first to play the fairy tale and then the children. There were no language barriers and everyone was happy to participate. Students received magazines because short texts can attract less skilful speakers of Slovenian.
Reading is connected with the visit to libraries. From 19 to 23 November the week of general libraries was held in Slovenia because it is exactly in libraries that we can find everything we want to know. Students tried to find the figure of Ivan Cankar on postcards issued on the occasion of the week of general libraries, we spoke about words written on the postcards: creativity, imagination, sympathy, joy…
Programme Library – Universe of Treasure was a part of the project Cankar’s Days. This year is Cankar’s year as we mark 100 years of death of Ivan Cankar. Katja Bevk read a picture book Ivan and a cup of black coffee and spoke about his life, whereupon pupils and students made bookmarks. And given that Ivan Cankar had moustache and bookmarks were also in the form of moustache.
