On Tuesday, 19 February, at 6 pm, at Banski dvor in Banja Luka, an exhibition entitled "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovenia in the Light of the UNESCO Convention" was opened.
The authors of the traveling poster exhibition are Nena Jew, PhD, and MSc Anja Jerin, curator of the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, who is the coordinator of the preservation of the intangible cultural property in the Republic of Slovenia.
The 24 panels, using photographs and a brief description, present folk customs, skills, crafts and other traditions that have been declared intangible cultural heritage of Slovenia, four of which are listed on the UNESCO Representative List. These include lace-making in Slovenia, the art of drywall construction, the Škofja Loka Passion and a tour of the kurent. Another panel was added about May 20 - World Bee Day, which was proclaimed as such by the United Nations at the initiative of Slovenia.
The exhibition was opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to BiH, HE Zorica Bukinac, who in her speech emphasized the importance of preserving the intangible cultural heritage in addition to presenting the exhibition. At the beginning of the exhibition opening, the choir “Davorin Jenko” sang the song “There I Am, Home”. In addition to the members of the Association of Slovenians "Triglav" Banja Luka, the organizer of the event, the opening was attended by a representative of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad Zvone Žigon, Consul of the Consular Office of the Slovenian Embassy in Banja Luka Marjan Ristič, and representatives of other associations of Slovenians from BiH.
The exhibition was set up in the salon of Ban Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic and is open until 1.3.2019.
