If you want to combine fun with something useful, take part in one of the Slovenian summer schools that take place in Slovenia these days.
During school holidays, various summer schools and camps are organized where you can meet peers and learn Slovenian. In some programs the emphasis is on learning grammatical structures, in others on communication and learning about Slovenian culture, while most programs are designed in the morning for language learning and in the afternoon for fun, sports and creative activities and field trips.
On July 12, the 14th Youth Summer School of the Slovenian Language, organized by the Centre for Slovenian as a Second / Foreign Language, which operates under the auspices of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana, ended with an interesting event. The fourth group, led by Anja Corel and Irina Lesnik were Elena Lunić from Slatina and Leonora Stefanac from Teslić. Three of our students are in Koper these days. The Summer School "Hello, here is the Slovenian Mediterranean" is organized by the Faculty of Humanities, University of Primorska. Most of our students will gather at the Summer School "Slovenian in a slightly different way", which will be prepared in Murska Sobota by the Slovenian Emigrant Class. In Murska Sobota, they will host the Let's Experience Slovenia camp, organized by the RS Institute for Education and the Centre for School and Extracurricular Activities. They are also the organizers of the Slovenian Summer School in Tolmin. Since 1991, more than 1600 children and adolescents of Slovenian origin from abroad attended schools organized by the RS Institute for Education. All these schools and camps are co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
Children and young people are thus able to get to know the homeland of their ancestors. Some spoke their first words in Slovenian while in Slovenia, others strengthen their language skills, and all make new friendships with peers from all over the world and return home even more motivated to learn the language.
