“Ladies and gentlemen, dear guests, dear members of the Association Triglav Banjaluka, welcome to the 20th celebration of St. Martin,” were the words of moderator, journalist and our friend Dušan Tomažič from Maribor on 24 November 2018 in Valentin restaurant.

As every year, Slovenians of Banjaluka again marked the old Slovenian custom, baptising wine. We had a representative of the Consular Office of Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Marjan Ristič, representatives of the City of Banjaluka, representatives of Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republika Srpska, distinguished guests from Banjaluka, representatives of library Anton Tomaž Linhart from Radovljica, representatives of Association of people from Littoral and Istria in Prekmurje, many sponsors, members of Slovenian associations in BiH, representatives of national minorities and teachers of different primary and secondary schools from Slovenia, Banjaluka and Slatina.

We started at 19.30, as planned. The first to perform was the choir Davorin Jenko of the Association of Slovenians Triglav conducted by Vanja Topić. Member of our Executive Board Ana Marjanović made a beautiful and concise welcome speech reminding of our members no longer with us and reminded of the need to preserve the language, culture and customs including baptising wine. Then there performed young members of folklore group of the Association of Slovenians Triglav. They had a great choreography prepared by their choreographer Predrag Savić.

Baptising wine was unique this time, it was an innovative and a happy event. It was prepared by our guests from Prlekija. Fertility of grapevine of Prlekija and abilities of wine producers from that area have been known for a long time. It is worth mentioning that the Association of the Slovenians Triglav had luck and possibility to present good and noble wine of young wine producer and entrepreneur Miran Trop. Baptising wine was done with the velvety voice of St. Martin, played by director of Radio Prlek Mr. Peter Kirič with the assistance of winegrower Miran Trop.

It was nice participating and enjoying in the old Slovenian custom presented to us, Slovenians living outside the homeland, by Dušan Tomažič, Peter Kirič, Miran Trop and music group Efekt from Novo mesto, invited by president of the Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto Branka Bukovec.

The Association of the Slovenians Triglav Banjaluka also presented Newsletter containing all activities the Association has implemented during the year.
