The Day of the Army of the Republic of Slovenia is marked on May 15 as the day when in 1991 Slovenian conscripts began to serve their military service exclusively in Slovenia in two training centers of the then Territorial Defence.

A total of 300 recruits began their military service in the 710th training center in Pekre near Maribor and the 510th training center in Ig near Ljubljana.

On that occasion, members of the Slovenian contingent in BiH organized a small ceremony in Banja Luka. Guests at the ceremony marking the Day of the Army of the Republic of Slovenia were also members of the Association of Slovenians of RS Triglav. As part of the ceremony, the role and importance of members of the Slovenian Armed Forces serving in BiH were presented. Their primary task is to provide local communities with a permanent link to EUFOR, thus contributing to the strengthening of a secure and stable environment.

As part of the ceremony, in addition to raising the Slovenian flag and listening to the anthem of the Republic of Slovenia, as well as the anthem of the Army of the Republic of Slovenia, creditable members of the Slovenian Army operating within the LOT Liaison and Monitoring Team, located in Banja Luka were promoted.

Also, an appropriate gift as a sign of friendship was given to the Association of Slovenians of RS Triglav. Mrs. Žana Pekić, Vice President of the Association of Slovenians of RS Triglav, also had the honour to address the audience. She briefly presented the work of the Association and invited the team of the Army of the Republic of Slovenia stationed in Banja Luka, to all future activities of the Association, to be our dear guests and to spend time with Slovenians here to feel at home.

After the official part of the ceremony, there was a cocktail party and on that occasion, future cooperation was agreed.
