In February, supply teaching lessons of the Slovenian language was held online, and the first meeting in March was dedicated to masquerade, which is celebrated in Slovenia on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
In Slatina and Banja Luka, we introduced the children to typical Slovenian masquerades, especially about who Kurent is, the children took pictures of him, named Kurent's equipment and appearance, read a poem about masquerades and solved tasks about it. The students learned that our ancestors were in a hurry to chase away winter and wake up nature. They learned a Slovenian proverb that says: If the masquerade jumps high, the flax will be high, if they dance wildly, the tail will be fat. We also made carnival masks and thus brought masquerade to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of course, there were also donuts that we enjoyed at the end of the lesson. The masquerades knocked on the door and asked: "Do you have anything for the masquerades?" We gave them sweets and juicy donuts.
