On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the end of the school year, we hosted the famous Slovenian author Boštjan Gorenc - Pižama at the Milanović House.
The literary event was organized as part of a project that we are implementing for the second year in a row together with the Regional and Study Library of Murska Sobota. The guest writers' visits are financed by the Miš Publishing House, which has been organizing the Bralnice pod slamnikom festival for more than 15 years, part of which are performances such as the one performed by our guest this time. Association’s students of Slovenian language classes, students of Slovenian language from the Faculty of Philology and members of the Association of Slovenians of the Republika Srpska "Triglav" Banja Luka enjoyed the informative, humorous and interesting performance of Boštjan Gorenc - Pižama, a writer, translator, comedian and rapper, who, through his special focus as a fan and connoisseur of pop culture, presented Slovenian literary greats in modern clothes. In a pleasant gathering after the performance, someone, partly jokingly and partly seriously, noticed that these great and important writers, whom he understands almost nothing in the original, have become quite likable to him thanks to Pižama. I also agree that such visits by artists from Slovenia to Slovenian emigrants around the world are a real enrichment and lively contact with cultural and literary events in Slovenia, and even more so with important contemporary and famous Slovenian artists.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, we took our guest Pižama and the coordinator from PIŠK Murska Sobota, librarian Metka, around the center of Banja Luka and ended a pleasant and informative visit to the best pies in the city, where we were joined by professor Barbara Hanuš, who will remember her long-standing fruitful professional mission in Banja Luka for those excellent pies.
I would like to thank the Murska Sobota Library for the successful cooperation through the project (financed by the Office for Slovenians Abroad), librarian Metka Celec for the excellent coordination of the project, the Miš Publishing House for financially covering the writer's visit, the president of the Triglav Association Ivan and his right hand, his wife Ljiljana, and all the members of the Association who contributed to the smooth running and flawless organization of this literary event.
