The book was issued by the Society for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto, in cooperation with the Association of the Slovenians of the RS “Triglav” Banja Luka. The issuance of the book was made possible by the municipality of Novo mesto and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska.
Cooperation among poets from the two cities has lasted since 2008 and this year the cooperation was elevated to the level of its presentation in a book “Double-bottom Suitcase”. The poems in the collection were edited and translated by a poet and interpreter Zdravko Kecman and a poet, interpreter and the editor-in-chief Marjanca Kočevar.
The words uttered during the presentation were merely a proof of the two poets’ harmony in thinking and feeling. Mr. Kecman said: “The Double-bottom Suitcase is a cross-section of two circles, genetically close, in poetical sense, by verse and language, but very different in topics and very surprising. Mrs. Marjanca Kočevar subtly expressed her thoughts “Poets in this book come from an area that used to be their common country. It is something that determines, unites and connects them like destiny, a language of common ancestors, Slavic language”.
This evening was not only for the sake of presenting the poems which were read by the authors themselves, but also an evening of deep discussions on literary, cultural and current social topics, an evening of relaxed socializing and familiarizing with each other, as well as designing new ideas. It was an evening of many admirers of poetry, an evening attended by representatives of head people of the municipality of Banja Luka, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, Embassy and the Consular Office of the Republic of Slovenia in BiH and poets from both cities who are not similar, do not come from the same family tree but are authentic and special per se.
