Presentation of the monograph “From Ancestors to Descendants: Slovenians in Slatina and Banja Luka 1923 – 2008” was held on Wednesday, 15 April 2009, in the Banski dvor in Banja Luka.
The book was presented by the author Mrs. Vera Adamič Papež and a representative of the Association of the Slovenians of the Republic of Srpska “Triglav”, Mr. Darko Mijatović.
On that occasion, the attendees were greeted by two great friends of the Association “Triglav”: the first Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Drago Mirošič and a representative of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, Mr. Aleš Selan.
The monograph depicts memories and testimonies of Slovenian families, supported by historical documents and photographs. There was also mention of history of Slovenian families from Primorski kras moving to Banja Luka and Slatina, as well as ten-year long activities of the Association of the Slovenians of the Republic of Srpska “Triglav”, Banja Luka.
The same day, the Mayor of Banja Luka, Mr. Dragoljub Davidović formally opened an exhibition of photographs under the same name, in the Museum of the Republic of Srpska. On that occasion, Mr. Davidović congratulated the Slovenians in Banja Luka and the Association “Triglav” for being the most active national minorities’ association in the territory of Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska.
On Friday, 8 May 2009, the book and exhibition will be presented in the Kosovel library in Sežana (Slovenia), and there will be another presentation in Ljubljana.
